I’ve inspired Flickpreneur concept from one of RussellDavies’s flickr photo. In this picture, he shows his books. Everything seems usual, but not finished, he added some notes to pictures. On notes, he tells a bit about book and add link to amazon with his referral (check out here). It means, if you enjoyed Russell’s photos, you just look at; you can instantly buy it on Amazon. Maybe it is first product placement ever on flickr.
This little idea may big impact for users, brands and flickr itself. Let me explain, users of flickr or uploaders may use their affiliate programs on flickr. For example, if you take a picture of Threadless tshirt, just add note links of how to buy it. These notes are contextuals, not irritating for viewers. Viewers have a chance to buy Tshirt he just seen on his friend wearing or he has a chance, he just witness performance of brand on picture. This concept gives users make a money, that's why i named it flickrpreneur. I tried some initiative with my threadless affiliate program. Here and here.
For entrepreneur minds, maybe it is inspiring to develop application that makes it easy to add affiliate programs' link on photos. Then, Flickr, you should encourage and constitute flickrpreneur concept and make big money.
Finally, this concept is very important for brands. Branded content and participation is very critical on todays' marketing. Lets look at how Amazon (pionner of marketing) esteem customer images.
"Sometimes product descriptions and manufacturer supplied images are not enough. Here's your chance to help millions of fellow customers learn more about how a product looks, behaves and performs. Think of customer uploaded image as reviews in pictures."

In conclusion, product placement on photos has great potential both providers and advertisers. Maybe we see new kinds of ad networks. If you like theconcept, please help me to spread the idea.
Flickrpreneur: New opportunities for advertising on Flickr
Product placement on photos is a new concept and it has great potential both providers and advertisers. Use notes in order to direct people to buy product they just seen it in action
[...] Dün diğer blogda Flickrpreneur diye bir konseptten bahsettim. Fikrin ilham kaynağı Russell Davies’in aşağıdaki fotoğrafıydı. [...]

[...] Via Jeff Jarvis Via Marketallica is an interesting and very clever way of selling things via your flickr account. When you mouse over Russell Davies’ books you are presented with a mini-review and a link to an affiliate link to buy the book from Amazon. Makes sense. The same can be done with Threadless T-Shirts [...]
Hi , is it possible to use this mechanism on movies?
[...] [Via Marketallica]Russell Davies have posted the pictures of these books on Flickr. He has come up with an ingenious way of recommending books to users. He uploads the picture of his books and then added some notes to them. This could be a great product placement idea on flickr. Marketallica is very excited about the concept so am I. [...]
It’s funny you should mention this, because I wrote a long post about a similar functionality in a new ad campaign yesterday.
I should note here (as I did at the start of the post) that the content of the ad campaign is ENTIRELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK. That said:

however, i posted the pictures to flickr with adidas as a tag. you would think that they would encourage such cross pollination.

I did not write about spam photos but about spamming the photos of others. You can do whatever you want with your own photos and you can add relevant notes or comments to the photos of others.
You put a generic note on both photos and a link with your referral-name. Which valuable information did you add to the photos, for the brand or the viewer? You spammed these photosand your excuse is: “On the other side, on flickr, uploader can manage rights, so uploader can protect their photos from spammer.” So I have to forbid comments and notes for almost everyone just because some spammer want to use it for placing a referral-link?

This is a great concept. I recently posted on my blog about how Nikon is using Flickr for advertising in a more “official” sense. The pontential for misuse is high as Yahoo starts to find ways to make money from Flickr … I thought the Nikon Stunning Gallery was a good way to leverage the community without alienating them because of a commercial message.

I object!
I am not sure if everyone here is farmiliar with Russell Davies’ work but I he definetly has not invented a new advertising medium.
If you were a reader of his blog which is of a very high standard, you would realise that his motivations are far from capitalist nor is he interested in the developmet of even more spam on the internet.
What a great planner..

Thank for the great article. I can learn something new today from your tips.
Its a great Idea. Better online work from home jobs and opportunities are emerging day by day. One of the great free home based opportunities for internet marketers is this one.
Its A GREat Idea and Yahoo will take note of it, i think.. In future we will see Featured Product Photos on FLickr and Others like Photobucket for sure..
Ya, its a great way to make money both for people and corporates like Yahoo and Google. I too think that this nice concept will propagate very fast and Featured product placements will rise. There is no question of placements of leading Companies / MNCs not rising on Flickr. Much better placements than on paper ads..
Maybe I should put some beauty picture on the website.
