Full Collection of Crazy Mini Ads

Posted by: Ozgur Alaz (Marketallica) on: April 30, 2006

I like mini style of advertising. They meet people unexpected places and unexpected times. Sometimes minis are on the roof and sometimes on teleferic. And they are always surprising. Here i'll share some examples of mini's ads.

Hi Ozgur,

Great collection of Mini ads! I also really liked the unexpected use of Google! I recently wrote about Peter Drucker’s seven sources of innovation – number one is “the unexpected” – I’m sure Google didn’t expect this!

By the way, what do you think is the common advertising idea / theme which inspired all that great Mini advertising?

Reynold

That’s pretty cool.

@reynold
Thanks for your comment
I think you’re right about mini. Their common themes are to place Mini unexpected places, exaggerate its benefits and insead of using 2d billboards, they prefer to create ambient ideas

Ozgur — you should have told me you started a blog in english now! I love it. Thank you so much for doing this.

Hey saw this stuff, we’re an ad agency actually looking for some innovative ways to promote this new website of ours, movies.iexplorehere.com. This blog has really helped in setting off some sparks in the team for sure. good work to marketalikka. :)

Every gastation stop is a MINI ad for me-Every fuel stop people ask “whats the fuel milage?” Me, “40mpg”, then they ask “how fast is it?” (thinking it would struggle to 90mph) I show them my lamenated speeding ticket for 147mph and tell them “oh, but the top speed is 153mph limiter removed.” People that drive Excursions or Suburbans (with no passengers of course) typically ask “do you feel safe in that little thing” and I show them my lamenated copy of front end crash test comparison with Ford F-150 truck that shows MINIs crumple zone intact and F-150 crumple zone smashed nearly 3 feet into cabin, with dash, steering wheel and crash test dummy all melded into one. Also, show them my crash pics when I hit a bridge in a rear end slide at 70mph rolled 7 times hit barricade only injury I had was I burnt my shoulder from the starbucks coffee in the cupholder.
